The most common solution for people to turn to is a diet of some description to help them move the weight. After the event they will most often return to the eating pattern they had before they started their diet.
The lost weight creeps back on plus a little more. Another event comes up, so you resort to another short term diet plan to move some weight. The cycle goes around and around. Lose some weight, gain it back plus extra, lose it again back on again, round and round.
